Hello!
I hope you are doing good and you are safe!
Yesterday I shared with you my Morning Journaling Questions that help me to start my morning with positivity, set my goals and help me to practice the learnings of the previous day.
Today I am sharing with you my Night journaling questions with which I reflect the learnings of my day and write down my realizations, ideas, and whatever I don't want to forget!
These questions are connected with my morning ones, I try to make it as coherent as possible in order to track my progress.
3 amazing things that happened today
The question that helps me quickly reflect on my day and close it in a positive note. Even in hard days, you will always find something good that happened, like a good cup of coffee, a song that you haven't heard for ages, the weather, etc.
What did I learn today?
Right now, I categorize my answers in 4 blocks: University, Language Learning, Self Realizations, Soft Skills that I am currently learning / Other information. This helps me to retain all the information that I received today & make sure that I will practice them in the next days and monitor my progress towards my learning goals or deadlines that I have set. You can keep your answers general or make categories according to your current goals.
What learnings did I practice today?
As I told you in the previous blog, is important to follow up on things you learn and practice them because is the most powerful way to really learn something! At the beginning of my day, I am setting some actions that I want to do in order to practice something I learned and I make sure that I reflect on the results at the end of the day.
Let's see an example of how I use it - When I am reading a book, especially the ones for self-development, I always find myself thinking "WOW, I should try this!". Exactly. I write it down in my journal and I make sure to find/create a way the same day or the next day to practice it.
One other more practical example when it comes to studying/learning: I am currently taking coding classes and I can admit that I am having a bit of a hard time remembering everything. I document everything new that I am learning and for the next day I put to my actions to practice for an hour the topics that were most difficult to understand.
In which areas did I become 1% better than yesterday?
I am a firm believer that constant improvement, even if is slow, it's way more beneficial than a period of big improvement and achievements that will soon fade out. After all, Rome wasn't built in one day. So I am making sure that I am taking small steps towards becoming better and of course that I am not falling behind to my learning progress. I learn more about this idea on the books "Running Lean" from Ash Maurya and there are a lot of great articles out there to understand more this concept.
I chose to stick with 4 questions because I am elaborating a lot with my answers and to actually put myself in a mood of shutting down my mind and go to sleep fulfilled and with an empty brain.
I hope my questions gave you some inspiration on how to change/upscale/start your night journal routine!
